The documentary film From Exile to Return, directed by Lazar Vuković, has been awarded the Prize for the Preservation of Serbian Heritage at the Serbian Chicago Film Festival in the United States.
The film was created with the clear intention of preserving Serbian cultural and historical heritage. Through the life story of HRH Crown Prince Alexander of Serbia, From Exile to Return offers an intimate and historically significant narrative that connects generations and audiences worldwide.
The award holds particular significance as Chicago is home to one of the largest Serbian communities outside Serbia. The recognition stands as a testament to the collective effort of the entire production team, whose dedication and commitment were instrumental in bringing the documentary to life.
In addition to the heritage award, Lazar Vuković was personally honoured with The Odyssey of Return plaque for his work as director. The recognition marked an emotional milestone in the film’s journey and underscored the importance of the story being told.
The success in Chicago followed closely after the film’s premiere in Belgrade, highlighting a remarkable international journey within a short period of time. The Serbian Chicago Film Festival, now in its 12th year, continues to play an important role in celebrating Serbian cinema and cultural storytelling abroad.
The achievement has also been recognised by Forbes Serbia, which highlighted the film’s cultural impact and international reception. The full article can be read here:
